DRAM memory chip prices or usher in a short-term increase

Memory chip market research company InSpectrum said today that although the downward trend remains, memory and flash chip prices are expected to usher in a slight rebound after China’s November holiday.

Sources from the trading market said that the demand for DRAM memory and NAND flash memory chips has shown signs of recovery before the end of the 11th holiday period. Many manufacturers have claimed that the market demand brought by the 11-day long holiday has consumed most of their inventory, and will make a new round of inventory replenishment next week.

However, inSpectrum also believes that because the underlying demand of the retail channel is still very weak, this price rebound can only be a short-term behavior and will not last long. Moreover, some manufacturers continue to reduce the price of eTT chips in their retail channels, which also affects the price trend of the entire memory chip market.

As of this afternoon, spot prices for 1GB DDR3 and DDR2 memory chips have dropped to $2.03 and $1.81, respectively. The price of 16GB MLC NAND flash memory decreased by 1% to 4.26 US dollars and the 32GB MLC NAND flash memory chip increased by 2% to 5.24 US dollars.
