When you're looking for the ideal LED bulb for your home or office, you first need to be clear about what your requirements are, and then pick the light and color you need. Maybe you might just want to find a replacement for a typical 60-watt incandescent bulb. So, what kind of work do you need to consider when choosing an LED bulb? How to choose the right LED bulb?

Low wattage, high lumens

The first thing you should consider is how to save electricity and reduce electricity bills. If the lumen of the lamp is high, then the light is brighter. Compared to incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs can supply many lumens in just a few watts. So, you need to find a low-wattage, high-lumen light bulb, because it saves electricity.

On average, a 12-watt LED bulb can supply the same amount of light as a 60-watt incandescent bulb. This means you can save a lot of electricity and save on electricity bills.

Life expectancy

Second, you should consider the service life of LED bulbs. If you use three hours a day during the year, most LED bulbs can supply 25,000 to 50,000 hours of light.

Color and color rendering index

The third job you should consider is the color of the LED bulb. One of the benefits of LEDs is that light can be tuned to the full spectrum. LED lights can be red, yellow, green, blue, warm white, and cool white. The lower the color temperature, the lower the Kelvin, the whiter the white light. If the color temperature is higher, it will be bluish. If you want a warm color, look for an LED of about 2700K. At 3000K, the light is more like a halogen light. If you want cool white light, look for a 3500K to 4100K bulb. The 5000K to 6500K bulbs are modeled after natural light or daylight.

Another aspect of color is the color rendering index (CRI), which reflects the accuracy of color under light. The higher the color rendering index, the more objects the LED bulb will light up.

Light communication

LED bulbs illuminate in a specific direction. So it's important to find out what the LED bulb conveys. The transmission of light is called the beam angle. The beam views of the LED bulbs on the market are 15, 30, 45, 60 and 100, respectively, while the 120 and 180 are rare. A beam angle of less than 30 can be used as a spotlight with the highest brightness or lumen per watt. Most of them have a wattage of less than 5, which is especially suitable for shops and areas where outstanding demand is required.

Beam angles greater than 30° are suitable for high power LED lamps such as downlights. They can be placed on the ceiling to illuminate the room, usually at a power rating beyond 5W, and multiple such downlights can be used to illuminate the room.

If the ceiling is high (beyond 3 meters), the beam angle of 30-45 degrees can be used. If the ceiling is less than 3 meters, then it is best to use a 60-100 degree beam view.

The beam viewpoint can be added by placing the reflector and diffuser, but the problem is that if the beam viewpoint is added, the lumen (or brightness) will decrease.

Correct luminaire

LED lights are a little heavier than traditional bulbs, so you should check to see if the existing fixtures can support the LED bulb. And because these bulbs are longer, you may not be able to cover them with the lampshade you are using now. However, keep in mind that LED bulbs cannot be completely turned off in the fixture because heat will shorten the life of the bulb. If you want to use LED bulbs in the wild, then the bulbs should be weatherproof or can withstand wet field conditions.

certified product

It is very important that the LED bulb fits into some safety regulations. If the LED bulb fits into the Power Star specification, it will add a lot of points. Because the Power Star certification has high requirements for brightness, color and power usage.

warranty period

Because LED bulbs are more expensive than traditional bulbs, you should pick a brand that has a manufacturer's warranty. A good LED bulb should have a warranty period of at least three to five years.
