State-of-the-art stealthChopTM technology effectively eliminates noise from low-speed operation of the motor
Hamburg, Germany, 01.03.2017 - TRINAMIC MoTIon Control GmbH & Co. KG, the world's leading supplier of stepper motors and motion control, announces the latest series of high performance stepper motor driver ICs. The TMC2208-LA and TMC2224-LA include integrated MOSFETs and an optimized power controller for phase current control with up to 1.2A, no noise, and sine waves. Both components are designed for ease of application.

Thanks to the flexible microPlyer interpolation unit, the components provide resolutions of up to 256 microsteps/step, perfect for sinusoidal control even in systems with limited pulse rates. The Trinamic stealthChop technology introduced two years ago has been further developed to eliminate motor noise at low speeds, making it possible to precisely control stepper motors for applications such as office buildings and residential areas that require an absolutely quiet environment.
Since stealthChop technology is widely used in 3D printing, the design of these components is also compatible with existing 3D printer electronics, eliminating the costly cost of redesign.
Both components have step/direction inputs for full autonomous operation. Configuration is achieved through digital input.
These components will be available in the first quarter of 2017, in a QFN28 (5x5) package and priced at $1.22 per 1,000 units. To speed up the design process, Trinamic offers a complete end-to-end evaluation kit. The development board is open source hardware and can be used freely as a reference design.
